Lot 1
Civil War Era New Haven Arms Co. Henry Lever Action Rifle
This rifle's serial number dates to c. September 1863 during the middle of the American Civil War per page 71 of Wiley Sword's "The Historic Henry Rifle." The serial number is visible on top of the barrel at the breech and was also later marked on the left side of the lower tang ("2" double struck) and inside of the buttplate solid buttplate. The rifle features the alternate rear sight dovetail on the receiver and sling loop and swivel mounted on the left. The buttstock also has a filled slot from a lower sling swivel mount. Henry rifles were among the most advanced firearms of the Civil War and are believed to have been primarily privately purchased for use by Union soldiers. They naturally continued to be widely used on the frontier after the war as settlers headed westward in larger numbers leading to conflict with various Native American nations. Like the pioneers, the native warriors also adopted the Henry as a force multiplier on the battlefield and found it suited to their styles of warfare.

Lot 6
Winchester Model 1866 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine
This classic example of the "Yellowboy" dates to 1870 while many areas of the American West were actively contested. Winchester's new Model 1866 found ready customers in both the pioneers staking their claims on western land and the Native Americans fighting to hold their territory. Multiple Model 1866s are reported to have been used at the most famous Native American victory: the Battle of the Little Bighorn, and some have even pointed to the use of repeaters as a factor in enabling the Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho to overwhelm Lt. Colonel Custer's detachment of the 7th Cavalry who were armed with single shot trapdoor carbines.

Colt Transitional "Squareback" Pocket Model 1848/1849 Revolver
This is a much sought after transitional Colt Baby Dragoon/Model 1849 Pocket revolver that was manufactured in 1850 in the overlapping Baby Dragoon/1849 Pocket serial number range. While it is not known how many of these transitional models exist, the 1849 Pocket was introduced in 1850 around serial number 12000. The main difference between this variation and the standard Baby Dragoon is the use of rectangular cylinder stops which Colt patented on September 10, 1850. Wedge is unnumbered, "2" marked on loading lever, cylinder appears to be renumbered to match, otherwise visible numbers match. With a partitioned case (appears modern) containing lead rounds, powder flask, "COLTS/PATENT" marked brass bullet mold, and case key.
