2 3/4" chambers, improved modified/improved modified chokes, and 14" LOP. The buttstock features decorative carving, tack embellishment, and a carved "EL" monogram on the left side. The case is leather bound with a label reading "BUFFALO BILL'S WILD WEST/and CONGRESS OF ROUGHRIDERS/of the WORLD/TROUPE MEMBER" on the lid, fancy silver "EL" initials with a portrait of a Native American between the letters, and leather straps. The case contains two souvenir medals, one for the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show, the other for the 1st Volunteer Cavalry (likely from a reunion, or some type of show), photograph of Sitting Bull, crossed cavalry saber badge, spyglass with leather case, and a Spanish-American War medal. The items are attributed to Edgar F. Loughmiller a member of Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders, and later a member of William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody's Wild West Show. The lot includes an extensive collection of correspondence to Loughmiller, including letters, post cards, Western Union telegrams, and a military furlough notice. Most correspondence is dated in the late 1890s. Also included are a number of period photographs depicting scenes from the famous Wild West Show, Rough Rider military photos, and memorabilia from several Rough Rider reunions.
