OE - GOOD - some minor replacement parts; metal smoothly rusted or lightly pitted in places, cleaned; principal lettering, numerals and design on metal legible; lightly scratched, bruised or minor cracks repaired; in good working order.
Less than 500 of the No. 2 pistols were manufactured in 1854-1855. Each is highly sought after given these pistols are very significant in the evolution of lever action firearms and the famous Winchester and Smith & Wesson firearms companies. They predate the Volcanic Repeating Arms Co. This attractive, early, and functioning example has attractive scroll engraving on the frame, the Smith & Wesson address and cast steel markings on the barrel, "6" on the left side of the grip frame under the grip and face of rear sight, and some internal repairs/replacement parts. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
