These are known to have been used by the Confederacy and are attributed to the arsenal in Augusta, Georgia. Marked "9981." The head retracts into the shaft. Overall length with the head extended is 87 1/2". Fine with moderate overall wear and a protective coating. Provenance: The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.
