Approximately 900 .56 caliber rifles in the 33,000-34,000 serial number range purchased by the U.S. Navy between December 1860-April 1861 for issue to Marines and sailors on warships. "(Navy anchor)/U.S" marked top of breech. "GDM" collection initials marked at the toe of the stock. Includes leather sling, "Navy anchor" marked brass handled saber bayonet and leather scabbard. Bayonet is very fine with some light pitting, scabbard is very good with some light cracking/age wear. Provenance: The George Moller Collection
