The left front strap on both are stamped "R.F.ENEWOLD", a marking associated with an old time collector/retailer from Reno, Nevada. This revolver is also has factory style scroll and border engraving on the trigger guard, back strap, and ejector housing, which is also engraved "E.L. Shay Sheriff San Bdno, County". Emmett L. Shay was sheriff of San Bernardino County in California from 1934 to 1946, with his father, Walter and cousin, Ernest serving as sheriff before him. A plethora of local newspapers from the time recount many of the various investigations and political wrangling involving Shay and the department.
