PRF - PROFESSIONALLY REFINISHED OR RESTORED
Manufactured circa 1903/1904. The rifle is pictured and identified in Bailey Brower's "Savage Pistols "on pages 7 and 216 (serial number incorrectly listed as 33390). As Brower states the rifle "features a finely engraved game scene, while the beautiful hardwood stocks have received an elegant checkering that is both attractive and comfortable in hand." The receiver is adorned with engraved panel scenes: two mountain lions on the left and two running deer on the right. The bolt is jeweled. The checkered forearm and pistol grip stock are deluxe Circassian walnut. The rifle appears to be photographed in the 25th edition of the Blue Book," although the serial number is listed as 36390 (the 2nd digit on the gun is a bit faint, but is definitely 8). Provenance: The Bailey Brower, Jr. Collection, author of “Savage Pistols”
