The included factory letter lists this revolver as having shipped January 28, 1890 to a "A. L. Harvard". Harvard is believed to be a misreading of hand written records and the name should be A. L. Howard. Howard was an American sent by Colt to demonstrate the Gatling gun who distinguished himself in the Northwest Rebellion, was a major stock holder in Dominion Cartridge Co., and commanded the Canadian Scouts in the Boer War until he was killed in action on February 17, 1901.
