Description:

This lot includes 11 framed displays mostly consisting of documents relating to the New Mexico Territory, including men involved in the Lincoln County War and Bill the Kid's escapades. One frames item is a Bowie knife with "Alexander McSween" on the left side of the 9 1/2" clip-point blade. The display also indicates the right side is marked New Mexico Territory. The silver-gilt hilt has a bone handle. Alexander McSween (1837-1878) was one of the partners of John Tunstall and faced of against James Dolan and Lawrence Murphy in 1878. He was killed during the days long Battle of Lincoln essentially ending the war.

Rating Definition:

The frames are generally good to very good and have some mounting hold and age and storage related wear, and their contents are generally in very good condition for their age. The knife is good with dark patina on the blade and mild wear.
