Manufactured circa 1872-1873, this was one of approximately 7,000 manufactured. The Model 1871-1872 was the first non-conversion Colt cartridge revolver, and was a direct predecessor of the wildly successful Single Action Army. Period stamped "AB" on left side of barrel and both sides of the grip and "JH" on the left side of the barrel lug (significance unknown). Provenance: The Gateway Collection
Fine with some original finish in the protected areas, most of the cylinder scene remaining, some battering around wedge and ejector housing, small chips at each grip toe. Mechanically excellent.
