Manufactured in 1893, as a special order deluxe Winchester Model 1885 High Wall rifle. The top flat of the no. 3 weight barrel is marked with the two-line address and the caliber marking at the breech. The barrel is fitted with a Windgauge adjustable front sight and no rear sight provisions. The casehardened receiver has a folding Vernier tang sight and a single set trigger. The serial number is on the lower tang. It is mounted with a very finely figured, H-pattern checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with a cheek piece and nickel plated Schuetzen buttplate. The left side of the lower tang is marked "1239 XXX SBC." The assembly number "1239" is repeated on the stock inlet and buttplate.

Very good. The barrel retains 40% faded original blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The receiver has faded to an attractive silver gray with patterns of original case colors remaining. 90% original nickel plating remains on the buttplate. The wood is fine with some minor dings and scratches and some softened checkering. Mechanically excellent.
