Description:

A licensed copy of the famed Browning Automatic Rifle, the 1918 Browning Machine Rifle was Marlin-Rockwell's light machine gun offering for World War I, offering a virtually unprecedented combination of firepower and maneuverability for infantry combat operations. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with an "M/8-18" marked barrel, five-line nomenclature/"PATENT APPLIED FOR" markings on top of the receiver, three position selector with "F A S" markings (semi/full/safe) and spring loaded plunger between the full auto and safe positions. A "crown/GP" British proof is present on the right side of the receiver. Fitted with a checkered forearm, a smooth pistol grip stock with "12" panted on the grip heel, and a green canvas sling.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 75% of the arsenal refurbished blue on the receiver, 95% original blue on the barrel, showing areas of brown and gray patina, spotting concentrated at the rear of the receiver, dings on and around the gas cylinder, and takedown lines on the receiver. The wood is very good, with cracks in the buttstock and stains and scuffs overall. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
