Manufactured in the 1970s, this M16A1 rifle has, in addition to the standard markings, a rack number of "65" on the front of the magazine well, side of the bolt head and the side of the bolt carrier, the latter also numbered to match the receiver; while not documented, these markings are associated with Department of Defense inventory, to reduce the risk of mismatching parts during cleaning/maintenance. Post front and two-leaf windage adjustable peep rear sights, with an A1 pattern flash hider on the "MP CHROME BORE" barrel, triangular handguard, and "CH" upper receiver with teardrop forward assist and short casing deflector. Bolt assembly is matte black finished, with the aforementioned added markings, "C" carrier and "MPC" marked head. The lower receiver has a right handed selector with "SAFE", "SEMI" and "AUTO" markings, unmodified sear pocket, checkered pistol grip and a fixed buttstock with trapdoor buttplate.
Excellent, with 97% plus original matte black phosphate finish, showing some light scratches on the metal and furniture. Some glue-repaired cracks are visible on the underside and rear of the forearm. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
