A) U.S. H. Aston Model 1842 Percussion Pistol

Description:

Brass blade sight on barrel with one band and "NWP" markings. The lock plate is dated 1850, with standard maker markings, and the tang is unmarked. Smooth stock, with connected band and reverse plate, faint cartouche, and brass backstrap/ grip cap.

Rating Definition:

Fair, with a mixed gray patina and scattered pitting and dings. Stock is fair, showing extensive wear, with cracking in the grip area and near the reverse plate, scattered scratches and dents. Brass shows a mixed aged patina. Nipple is replaced, otherwise action is very good.

No sights, with a double barrel band, illegible marking on the left side of the barrel, "(ring)/ JE" on the lock plate under the removable brass flash pan, and smooth stock with iron fittings, no ramrod, and metal buttcap.

Rating Definition:

Good, with some pitting visible on the surface. Stock is good, with some chips and dings. Action is good. Missing ramrod.
