Manufactured in 1890, with a 15-shot magazine, sliding breech cover, crescent buttplate, adjustable sporting type rear sight and front sight with a German silver blade. The top of the barrel is stamped with the two line address/patent dates marking and the Rampant Colt is stamped on the left side of the receiver. The checkered forearm and straight grip stock have a varnished finish.
Refinished during period of usage. The rifle has a smooth dark brown patina on the barrel and magazine tube and a smooth brown-gray patina on the frame with traces of blue finish near the trigger guard. There is some scattered pin point pitting. The revarnished stock has been period checkered, otherwise good with the varnish beginning to craze and some scattered minor dings and scratches. The forearm has a hairline crack. Mechanically fine.
