Manufactured in 1898. This rifle features a German silver blade front sight and a Winchester special smokeless rear sight on a special order part octagon barrel, with a half length magazine. It has the standard two line top barrel flat address marking ahead of the caliber marking, "32 W.S.", with the two line nickel steel marking on the left flat. The upper tang is marked with the three line model designation and patent information. "445-01-6964" is marked on the lever assembly with an electric pencil. Mounted on a nicely figured smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with metal end cap and crescent buttplate.
Good as partially refinished. The rifle retains traces of original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The forward portion of the receiver and the takedown ring are battered and have been cold blued. The left side of the wrist has a repaired chip, otherwise the solid wood is reoiled with some minor dings and scratches that are mostly on the forearm. Mechanically fine.
