This is a fine example of a nickel plated factory engraved Marlin Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle. The rifle is stamped with the second address/patent date variation: "MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CT. U.S.A. / PAT'D NOV. 19. 1878. APRIL. 2. 1889. AUG. 12. 1890. MARCH 1, 1892." Full length, latch type magazine, combination beach front sight and sporting rear sight. The receiver features an extensive factory scroll engraving on a punch dot background with a stag scene on the left side. The scrollwork is also featured on the barrel at the breech in 2 inch wedges. The top of the receiver is stamped "MARLIN SAFETY" flanked by floral designs. Mounted on a select walnut pistol grip stock with No. B type fine checkering. The forearm checkering has double point front and rear ends on both sides and grip coverage has a double pointed front end and single point toward the butt. The stock is fitted with a crescent buttplate.
Fine with approximately half of the original nickel on the barrel and magazine tube. The receiver has been cleaned during period of usage and is absent of all finish. (It could have been gold or silver that just fell off). The deluxe checkered stock and forearm are both very fine with most of their original varnish. Mechanically excellent.
