This highly ornate rat tail flintlock pistol features relief engraving on the breech end of the barrel, a relief engraved silver band securing the stock to the barrel, silver mountings, silver and pink semi-precious stone inlays on the forward portion of the stock, on the left flat and underside ahead of the trigger guard, and silver wire inlays on the balance. Just ahead of the left flat is silver inlay untranslated script. There is a silver ramrod pipe on the muzzle end followed by a solid 8 inch silver pipe. Mounted with a full one piece walnut stock with decorative silver buttcap with pink stone. A 5 inch section of the ramrod is present with 3 inches wrapped in silver. The overall length of this pistol is 23 3/4 inches.
Very good. The barrel, lock and hammer have a smooth gray patina. The silver has been polished at some time and most remains bright. The otherwise very good stock cracked 3" from the muzzle and it and the front ramrod pipe are loose. The silver in that area is also broken, but intact. The stock also has a few minor nicks and a small portion of the silver absent just ahead of the left side flat, otherwise the silver inlays and stones remain intact. The action needs work, it has to be manually decocked.
