The barrel has a pair of British proofs on the left side at the breech, with a shallow groove rear sight and a worn down front sight on a bayonet lug. Border engraved lock plate, with "TOWER" marked vertically at the rear and the large crown over "GR" with a crown arrow proof and "I GILL" in front of the hammer. Smooth straight grip stock with brass forearm tip, ramrod pipes, trigger guard, reverse plate and butt, an iron ramrod with a button tip, and two sling swivels. The buttplate heel is marked "L-H 383" and "N /G17". "L-H 383" is also marked on top of the barrel. A crown/B proof is stamped on the left stock flat and illegible markings are stamped on the right side of the buttstock. With a socket bayonet (does not fit the musket).
Very good. The barrel and action have been cleaned at one time and now have a mottled gray patina. The brass has a polished appearance. The sanded and reoiled stock is good with a hairline crack near the lock and a few minor handling marks. The bayonet is very good with a dark mottled patina. Mechanically fine.
