Manufactured from 1897 to 1917. German silver blade front and sporting type rear sights with top of receiver and upper tang drilled and tapped for sight mounting and full length magazine. Top barrel flat has the two line address/patent date marking and upper tang is marked "MARLIN / MODEL '97". Blue with casehardened takedown receiver, hammer, and lever. Smooth forearm and straight grip stock with iron forend cap and factory hard rubber buttplate.
Excellent. The barrel and magazine retain 95% original blue finish with some scattered light surface rust. The frame, hammer, and lever retain 90% plus original vivid case colors. The wood is very fine with most of the varnish remaining and some minor dings and scratches with a large pressure dent on the forearm (right side). Mechanically excellent.
