Made in 1901. German silver blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with the two line address on top of barrel ahead of the rear sight, caliber behind the rear sight. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1894 / WINCHESTER / PAT. AUG. 21, 1894" and the serial number is marked on the bottom front of the receiver. Saddle ring and stud mounted on the left side of the receiver, full magazine and smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a steel buttplate.
Fair. The metal surfaces have a dark patina with some minor pitting on the receiver, heavier on the saddle ring. Rear sight elevator absent. The wood has been varnished and remains good overall with cracks and chips on the forearm and wrist, scattered scratches and gouges, and the start of an attractive fancy grain near the buttplate. Mechanically very good.
