The included factory letter confirms the serial number, rifle configuration, and caliber with the rifle received in warehouse on April 1, 1903 and shipped on April 3, 1903 (order number T106048) with no address given. Barrel has been shortened to current length and features pinned blade front and sporting type rear sights with two line nickel steel marking on left side and "30 U.S." on top. Two line address/patent date receiver marking, two line model tang marking. Smooth forearm with ebony insert and straight grip stock with carbine buttplate.

Refinished. The rifle retains traces of original blue finish in and around the protected areas with the balance a mottled brown-gray patina. The sanded and reoiled wood is fine with some very scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
