This Third Model was manufactured in 1887. Blade and buckhorn (missing elevator) sights on barrel marked with the two line address/patent date marking and "32 CAL". Front sight blade is a period replacement which is made from a U.S. silver coin of the period (a seated liberty 25 or 50 cent piece!) Brass cartridge elevator is marked "32 CAL" and upper tang is marked "MODEL 1873". Smooth forearm and straight grip stock with metal forend cap and crescent buttplate.
Very good. The rifle retains traces of original blue finish in the protected areas with the balance a mottled brown patina. The wood is very good with a long hairline crack near the upper tang and some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
