This lot consists of a matching pair of gold inlaid and engraved J. Schenk of Marienbad (Czech Republic) percussion target pistols. The pistol is equipped with fixed blade front and notch rear sights and a plain trigger. "J. SCHENK" is gold inlaid on top of the barrel towards the breech. The rifled barrel is rounded at the top with four flats making up the sides and underside. A tight scroll engraving is featured on the bolster, lock plate, hammer, trigger guard, barrel tang, and grip cap. The lock plate is also marked "MARIENBAD" in a banner. A gold inlaid number "1" appears on the rear of the barrel at the breech and barrel tang, with the number "8" stamped on the stock behind the barrel tang. Mounted on a stock featuring a carved floral pattern on the grip area and on the tip of the forearm. The stock has a single barrel wedge and is fitted with an ornate iron grip cap.
Fine. The barrel retains half of the faded original blue finish with the balance a mottled gray patina with a few patches of pin point pitting. The remaining metal surfaces retain traces of original case colors in the protected areas with the balance a smooth gray patina. The stock is very good with a couple of repairs and a number of minor handling marks. The carving is crisp. Mechanically excellent.
As described in "A", but with a gold inlaid number "2" on the barrel and barrel tang and the number "7" stamped on the stock behind the barrel tang.
