Manufactured in 1906. The carbine has a pinned blade front sight, a carbine style rear sight, saddle ring on the left receiver side and a full length magazine tube. The top of the barrel has the two line address/patent marking ahead of the rear sight and "38-55" at the breech. Factory proof stamped on top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The upper tang has the three line model/trade mark information and the underside of the frame has the serial number. Smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate.
Very fine. The barrel and magazine retain 90% original blue finish thinning to a brown patina. The receiver and buttplate retain 70% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. Half of the slightly faded case colors remain on the hammer and lever. 40% of the original blue remains on the loading gate. The wood is excellent with a few scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
