This is an example of a Winchester Model 55 Takedown Rifle manufactured during the first year of production (1924). The left side of the barrel has the Winchester model/trademark/nickel steel legend followed by "30 W.C.F." and the right side has the two line address, with the factory proof on top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The upper tang has the three line trademark information and the underside of the frame has the two digit serial number (80). Half magazine with the June 6, 1893 patent date on the takedown latch, beaded blade front and sporting type rear sights. Smooth forearm and straight grip stock with steel forend cap and serrated steel buttplate.
Very fine as period refinished. The rifle retains 95% dull blue finish remaining showing some thinning to a brown. The wood is very fine with a few minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
