Manufactured in 1931, this rifle features a ramped bead front sight with removable hood and elevation adjustable sporting rear sights on a barrel marked with the two-line address, trademark, "-MODEL 92-", and "-218 BEE-". This caliber was not introduced into the Model 92 line until 1936 indicating that this rifle was likely returned to the factory for modification. (The serial number is interesting in that it is 65 digits prior to 1,000,000, thus creating some prototype speculation?)."WINCHESTER/-TRADE MARK-/MADE IN U.S.A." is stamped on the upper tang, and the serial number is marked at the front of the frame on the bottom. The Winchester "WP" proof is marked on the top of the barrel and frame at the breech. It has a half magazine, smooth/swelled forearm with metal cap, and straight grip stock with checkering the wrist and a carbine steel buttplate.
Very fine as factory assembled/finished. The rifle retains 95% of the original blue finish with some minor scratches, a few minor spots of finish wear, and handling/storage type marks. The wood is very fine with some slight scratches, a few spots of clouded or worn varnish, and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent with clear markings. This example needs more research!
