Manufactured in 1900, this carbine is chambered in the most desirable 50 Express caliber. The top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two-line address and "50 EX" at the breech. The upper tang is marked "-MODEL 1886-", and the lower tang is marked with the two-line patent dates and serial number. Blade front and three leaf (one fixed, two folding) rear sights, two barrel bands, saddle ring and stud on the left side of the receiver and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a steel carbine buttplate. The accompanying factory letter verifies the carbine configuration, 50 Express caliber and that it was received in the warehouse on November 12, 1900 and shipped to order number 5496 on December 17, 1900.

Fair as refinished. The metal surfaces have a smooth artificial brown patina with strong blue finish remaining in the protected area around the rear sight and saddle ring stud. The wood also remains very good with a small gouge on the right side of the stock and some minor handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is fine. A documented solid representative example of a Model 1886 Saddle Ring Carbine in the very desirable 50 Express caliber.
