Manufactured in 1894 in 40-82 WCF caliber, this rifle features a heavy octagon barrel (total weight unloaded approximately 10 lbs) with dovetail front sight and adjustable sporting style rear sight. It has a casehardened forend cap, lever, hammer, and crescent buttplate and a straight grip walnut stock with crescent steel buttplate. The barrel has the two-line address ahead of the rear sight and the caliber designation near the breech. The patent information and the serial number are marked on the lower tang, and "-MODEL 1886-" is marked on the upper tang.
Fair. The rifle retains traces of the original blue finish mixed with an artificial brown patina covering most of the metal surfaces. The metal is slightly brighter with file and tooling type marks at the junction of the frame and takedown collar. There are some marks and minor scratches spread throughout and some brighter high edge wear. The wood is very good with the rear upper tang screw is inset. Mechanically fine.
