Manufactured in 1927. Standard nickel steel/smokeless powder marking on the left rear of the barrel followed by "30 GOV'T-06 ". The Winchester oval proof is marked on top of the barrel and on the upper left side of the receiver at the breech next to the matte waving lines. Sheard Marble front beaded blade sight, rear sight absent, and a non-factory receiver mounted Williams peep sight has been installed. There is a filler screw where a Lyman SA sight once rested (now absent). The Winchester two-line address/patent dates on the left side of the receiver partially obscured by the peep sight. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 95/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK REG. U.S. PAT OFF & FGN." and the serial number on the lower tang. All blue finish and mounted with a smooth walnut Schnabel forearm with ebony insert and straight grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate.
Very good. The rifle retains 30% of the original blue finish with areas of mottled brown and smooth grey patina with some scattered scratches and dings overall. The markings are crisp and clear. The wood is also good with scattered scratches and dings and a few bruises near the toe. Mechanically excellent.
