The Chicago Fire Arms Company produced under 13,000 of these pistols in the 1890s. Only 1,000 were believed to have been blued and most had hard rubber side plates and plunger pads, whereas this example has rare Scrimshaw vine designs on the smooth side plates and a smooth plunger plate. The matching serial number is marked on the internal components of which the cylinder is nickel plated. One side has the model and patent information while the other has the address.
Very fine. The pistol retains 80% of the slightly faded blue finish with some light scratches and spotting. The panels are fine with a horizontal crack present in one panel and very attractive Scrimshaw designs. The action is excellent.
