This Type II or Model 3 derringer was likely manufactured very early in the 1888-1911 production range given the low serial/batch number "413" marked on the grip strap under the left grip panel and underside of the barrel group. The rib is marked "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION, N.Y." It has the standard sights and checkered hard rubber grips. It comes in a locking wood case with "LebLe" marked on the lid plaque and "D.H. LAWRENCE/CHICAGO" on the inside of the lid. The birdseye maple case has a fitted purple velvet lined interior with a cartridge block holding fifteen rounds of vintage ammunition and a compartment with a patch and the key.

Excellent. 98% plus of the original nickel plating remains with some light scratches and edge wear overall. The original blue finish on the trigger has partially faded from handling but is nearly all intact on the hammer. The grips are also excellent with crisp checkering, slightly aged coloration, and minor handling marks. The action remains excellent, and the markings are sharp. The case is very good with the fabric lining faded, stained, and worn and the exterior has some slight cracks and general minor storage wear.
