This Model 1886 was manufactured in late1896 or early 1897 and has beaded blade front and adjustable notch rear sights. The barrel is marked with the two line address ahead of the rear sight and the caliber designation at the breech. The short magazine has the takedown lever at the front. The upper tang is fitted with an adjustable folding peep sight. It has the standard smooth rifle forearm and straight wrist walnut buttstock with a shotgun style checkered hard rubber buttplate embossed with the Winchester emblem.
Very good as partially refinished (wood). The rifle retains 25% of the original blue finish primarily on the barrel and magazine tube. There are patches of oxidation, mild pitting and golden varnish. The wood is fair with some overall minor scratches and some cracks and chips at the junction with the receiver and the toe. The action remains excellent and the visible markings are legible.
