This rifle was produced in 1892 and was likely produced in the first month of production. It has a German silver blade front sight and adjustable sporting rear sight with reversible square and rounded notch insert on an octagon barrel marked with the two-line address on top in front of the rear sight and "44 WCF" behind it. The upper tang has the three-line Model and patent marking, and the serial number "388" is on the bottom of the receiver. It has a smooth forearm and straight wrist stock with standard rifle buttplate.
Very good. The rifle retains 25% of the original blue finish with mostly a silver gray patina on the balance. There are scattered minor areas of light to mild pitting present. The wood is very good with various minor marks and scratches, a noticeable chip at the left forward wrist at frame juncture due to a spot of pitting. The action is fine. One section of "WINCHESTER" on the upper tang is obscured, but the rest of the markings are crisp.
