The 1886 is considered one of the finest and strongest lever actions ever made by Winchester. It was the second Winchester model produced based on John M. Browning's designs and also helped pave the way for the scaled down Model 1892. This example was manufactured in 1901, with a German silver blade front sight and adjustable sporting rear sight, standard early 20th century Winchester markings, a smooth forend with steel endcap, and smooth straight wrist buttstock with steel crescent buttplate.
Fine as partially refinished (wood). 60% plus of the original blue finish remains with primarily a gray patina on the balance, some patches of mild oxidation, and spots of light pitting. The wood is good as refinished with scrapes and small dents. The action is fine and the markings are crisp. Mechanically excellent.
