Description:Manufactured in 1887. The top barrel flat ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two-line address/King's Improvement patent dates and "44 CAL" at the breech. The bottom of the cartridge elevator is marked "44 CAL" and the serial number is on the lower tang behind the lever latch. Dovetailed blade front and adjustable rear buck horn sights. The barrel, full length magazine tube and forend cap are blue, the receiver is brass, the hammer, lever and buttplate are casehardened. Mounted with an attractive straight grain walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. This Model 66 is consecutively serial numbered to the previous lot.
Rating Definition:Very fine as professionally restored to near mint. 98% plus of the blue finish and rich case colors remain. The frame has a lightly aged patina. There are some overall light handling/storage type marks. There is some slight edge wear on the forearm at the breech. The action functions fine. The markings are mostly crisp. When is the last time you found two consecutively serial numbered Winchester Model 66 rifles manufactured in the late 1800s?
