This is a very good example of an original early Chinese AK-47 model assault rifle that was manufactured in the early 1960s. This is a Vietnam era AK-47 that was actually given to Army Captain C. Ohlenburger (LTC Retired) in 1965 after flying a very successful ground support mission for the South Vietnamese Rangers know as the "Red Hats" due to their Red Berets. At the time Captain Ohlenburger was flying UH-1 (Hueys) out Bein Hoa airbase and the operation spanned a 4-5 day period flying in support, weapons and troops as well as just covering fire on the various LZs supporting the Red Hats. It proved to be a very successful operation and is fully documented in a four page typed written detailed report from LTC Ohlenburger, that was documented/notarized in August 1999. At the end of the mission he was presented this AK47 (serial number listed in the detailed report) by the commander of Red Hat 4. Very interesting reading. As we all know these were the main infantry weapon used throughout Vietnam by both the NVA and Vietcong forces. As we all know the original Russian AK was developed by Mikhail Kalashnikov in 1947. Kalashnikov, a Tank Mechanic and self taught engineer came up with the idea for a self-loading weapon after seeing some of the later war German assault rifle. He shortened the standard Russian 7.62 X54 round down to the current 39 mm length and made history with it. The AK47 has been well proven to be one of the most reliable, robust and dependability assault rifles ever manufactured and has been in continuous use in Russian, Communist China and the various Warsaw Pact countries over 66 years. It is still the most prolific assault weapon ever manufactured and is currently in use by all the Communist state sponsored countries and revolutions throughout the world today and specifically in use in various countries throughout the Middle East and specifically by the terrorist group know as ISIS. This rare example was manufactured in China by Norinco and has the correct factory "66" inside the triangle logo on the left side of the receiver, followed by the serial number "11090483". It has the desirable milled receiver and rear barrel trunnion and is fitted with the Chinese folding, cruciform bayonet underneath the barrel. It comes with its original AK47 web sling and three unmarked stamped AK47 magazines and a black nylon soft rifle case.

Very fine with 75% plus of the original blue finish still remaining overall with minor wear and flaking on the sides of the receiver and top cover with more erosion and wear on the buttplate. All three areas also show very minor pinprick erosion spots in some areas. The stock, handguards and pistol grip are all original to the weapon and show a minor light handling marks and pressure dents overall, with some minor oil staining on the pistol grip and buttstock on the sides and especially around the buttplate. It has matching numbers on the bolt, bolt carrier, top cover, recoil spring and top handguard, with the only mismatch part being the bayonet latch. This is a scarce registered example of a documented Chinese AK47 assault that still remains in its original battle-field pick up condition yet today! NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), Class 3, Fully Automatic Weapon, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATF) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
