Description:This case is for a Winchester lever action rifle with a 28 inch barrel and straight stock. The overall length is 48 1/4 inches and it is 9 3/4 inches deep. The lid has a blank inscription panel. A note with the case indicates that the rifle that belongs in the case is serial number 18362 (manufactured in 1876). That rifle is pictured in "Winchester Repeating Arms Company" by Herb Houze on page 123 and is John Ulrich engraved. The case has a burgundy lined interior with French fitted compartments for the gun, tools (including two screwdriver slots), and boxes of ammunition. A gold colored reloading tool is the only included accessory. It is marked "PAT OCT/20 87."
Rating Definition:Very good as relined with moderate scratches and dings on the lid, the left latch broken, and a minor crack above the left hinge. The loading tool retains 90% plus of the golden paint. If you have the rifle noted above or another the same size, this is an opportunity to get your hands on a case for your Winchester Model 1873!
