Manufactured in 1879, this Second Model production features the dust cover guide rail secured on the top of the receiver with two screws, and the dust cover has the checkered thumbprint (somewhat irregularly shaped). Folding globe front and folding sporting rear sights with a barrel stamped with the two line address/patent dates marking on the top flat. The upper tang is stamped "MODEL 1873" in script under a tang mounted peep sight (aperture disk absent) marked "'Marble' GLADSTONE MICH" on the left with patent information on the right. The brass elevator is marked "44 CAL", and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. It has a full length magazine and a custom checkered forearm and straight grip stock with crescent buttplate and compartment (cleaning rod not included).

Rating Definition:

Good as custom refurbished. The rifle retains 95% of the chrome plating with some small spots of wear, light pitting on the buttplate and in some small areas, light scratches, and some overall light handling/storage marks. The refinished and recheckered wood is good with a series of small chips at the junction with the receiver on the left and repaired hairline cracks on the forearm including a long one running the length of the forearm on the bottom right as well as small scratches and dings. Mechanically fine. The markings are all legible, but the barrel markings are fainter.
