Manufactured in 1881. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/King's improvement patent dates ahead of the rear sight, and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. Dovetailed blade front sight, adjustable rear sporting sight and fitted with a rare long range tang mounted peep sight. The barrel, magazine tube and loading gate were finished blue. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate and compartment (cleaning rod not included).
Fine. The barrel retains 30% original blue finish with scattered minor oxidation. The magazine tube has a smooth mottled grayish patina. The hammer shows 70% of the faded original case colors, while the lever and buttplate have a mottled gray patina. The receiver has an aged patina. The wood is good as revarnished, showing a 5/8 inch round plug repair near the toe of the stock and overall minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine.
