Mauser Model 1935/06 Portuguese Republican National Guard (GNR) Contract Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol
Manufactured in 1935 in a limited run of 579, the Republican Guard Contract Luger uses a 1906 pattern frame with a grip safety, smooth back strap and tapered pencil barrel. Fixed sights, the chamber stamped "GNR" (Guarde Nationale Republicanie) and the Mauser banner on the toggle. The left side of the barrel extension and underside of the barrel have small "crown/crown/U" firing proofs, and the pistol is numbered in the military manner. This model also has the extractor and lower safety area marked "CARREGADA" and "SEGURANCA" respectively. Straw finished small parts, niter blue pins and screws, checkered grips and nickel magazine with an unmarked hardwood.
ConditionVery fine, with 80% of the original blue finish, showing a mixed brown and gray patina on the barrel, brown with mild spotting on the grip straps, bright edge wear, a few areas of pitting and mild handling marks. The extension shows a few dents on either side. Grips are fine, with some dents and scuffs concentrated on the left side. Mechanically excellent.
