Manufactured in 1872 and subsequently converted to 44 centerfire. The serial number followed by the letters "FS" is stamped on the lower tang just behind the trigger. It has standard Winchester barrel markings (weak), blade front sight integral to the barrel band, folding two-leaf rear sight, center fire firing pin, saddle ring mounted on the left side of the receiver and brass buttplate with trapdoor. The three-piece cleaning rod is included in buttstock compartment.

Very good. The period refinished barrel and magazine tube has a smooth dark patina with minor pitting under the finish. The crisp brass has an attractive patina. The wood is very good with a replacement forearm, a couple missing minor chips and some minor ding and scratches mostly on the stock. Mechanically excellent.
