Description:

Manufactured by Willys, BMY, Baifield Industries, and Bruswick Corp. from 1956 to 1970, the M274A5 Mule was used by all U.S. military branches but mostly served with the Army and Marine Corps as a supply vehicle. It had good cross-country performance for a small, lightweight vehicle that faired well in Vietnam. The operator could drive the vehicle dismounted by folding the steering wheel forward and walking or crawling to reduce its silhouette in combat. It was designed to move ammunition to forward units and could be equipped as in this example with a 106 mm recoilless rifle. Top speed was around 25 mph using a Continental 2 cylinder horizontally opposed air cooled engine. Of the 11,240 M274s manufactured, 5,000 were destroyed or left in Vietnam. This Baifield Industries manufactured example has a June 1968 delivery date and is outfitted with a demilled M40 recoilless rifle with demilled M8C spotting rifle. Comes with 4 dummy rounds in the ammunition rack. Consignor research is included.

Rating Definition:

Well restored with very good body and paint. The demill on the M40 is light with a rod welded into the chamber.
