Description:This is a fine example of a Winchester Model 1866 rifle that was manufactured by Winchester in 1870. The top barrel flat is marked with the two line address/King's improvement patent dates ahead of the rear sight, and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. Dovetailed blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight. The barrel, magazine tube and loading gate were finished blue. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with sling swivels, a crescent buttplate and compartment, (4 piece cleaning rod not included).
Rating Definition:Fine. The barrel and magazine tube have a smooth brown patina. There is some bright edge wear and a few minor dings on the barrel. The hammer and lever have a smooth mottled brown and silver gray patina. The very fine, crisp original brass components have a very pleasant mellow natural aged patina. The wood is very fine, and shows some scattered minor dings and scratches. The markings are clear. The lever is bent in a bit. The action is fine.
