This highly attractive Winchester model 12 features exceptionally well executed panel scene and fine scroll engraving from one of the most famous and sought after American master engravers Rudolph Kornbrath. Manufactured in 1922. Dual white bead sights on the matte vent rib with standard barrel markings, single Winchester "WP" proof on the barrel at the breech, 2 3/4 inch chamber, and "WS-1" marked choke. The receiver is engraved with highly detailed game bird and dog scenes of pheasant on the right and a setter on the left. The birds and dogs are surrounded by wedges of tight leafy scroll work with fine punch-dot shaded backgrounds, and fine line and scroll frame borders. This engraving is documented in a Kornbrath brochure reprinted in R.L. Wilson's "The Book of Colt Engraving" on page 281. The underside of the receiver is signed "RJ KORNBRATH" just ahead of the loading port and marked "TRAP" under the serial number. The trigger guard is engraved to match and inscribed with the monogram "JLW" with brilliant gold inlay. Finely checkered extension forearm with scroll carved accents and pistol grip stock with matching engraved blue steel grip cap and solid rubber White Line recoil pad. Stock measurements are: drop at comb 1 3/8 inches; drop at heel 2 inches; length of pull 13 1/2 inches.
