Per "American Percussion Revolvers" by Sellers and Smith, around 200 Adams revolvers were manufactured with 4 1/4 inch barrels roughly equally divided between octagon and round barrels during mid-production of this model. Thus, of an estimated 4,500 Adams Patent Pocket Revolvers manufactured by the Mass. Arms Co., this is one of approximately 100 reportedly made in this configuration. Other than the scarce barrel configuration, it has the standard markings and features. It comes in a hardwood case with an Eley Bros. cap tin marked for "ADAMS PATENT REVOLVERS," a Mass. Arms Co. pocket powder flask, and a dual cavity bullet mold.
Fine with 60% original bright blue finish, brown patina and mild oxidation on the balance, minor scratches and marks, and crisp markings. The trigger return spring is broken; otherwise, it's mechanically excellent. The grip is very good with crisp checkering and some minor scratches. The flask is dented and has some minor seam separation. The cap tin and mold have mild storage wear. The case is very good with minor fading and contact wear on the lining and light scratches and dings from storage on the exterior. This is a very rare opportunity to get your hand on one of just around 100 Mass. Arms revolvers in this configuration.
