Description:

Manufactured in 1876 as a First Model carbine with the distinctive dust cover held in place by grooved guides on either side of the receiver, dust over with a checkered oval thumbprint grip on top and lever latch with visible screw threads. The front sight is integral to the barrel band, and there is a two leaf rear sight. This early carbine correctly lacks caliber markings, otherwise standard markings, and a saddle ring is mounted on the left side of the receiver. Mounted with a carbine forearm and straight grip stock with trapdoor buttplate containing a three-piece cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus, retains 30% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina and bright grey patina on the edges and high spots. The wood is also very good with minor dings and scratches scattered throughout and some light chipping near the toe of the buttstock. Mechanically excellent.
