An excellent original example of an Ithaca Gun Company M6 Survival rifle as issued by the United States Air Force. This is the original version with the 14 inch barrels, that has been correctly registered with the BATFE as an "AOW", (Any Other Weapon). Marked on the left side of the receiver "U.S.A.F. PROPERTY/138032/ RIFLE-SHOTGUN. SURVIVAL/CAL. .22/410, M6". The right side is marked "ITHACA GUN CO. INC. ITHACA N.Y.", with the crossed cannon ordnance stamp. These rifles have a break open action with a fixed front and two-position flip rear sight. It has a squeeze type trigger with a stamped, skeletonized stock with a cartridge block located inside the stock. The comb area lifts up to show that the spare cartridge block holds nine .22 Hornet cartridges and four .410 shotgun shells. Includes two .410 bore M-35 shotgun shells and makeshift cordage sling. Excellent with 95% plus original gray phosphate finish, areas of edge wear, some scattered scratches, handling marks overall, and patches of visible red oxidation. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is registered as a National Firearms Act (NFA), AOW (Any Other Weapon). Although NOT a fully automatic weapon it is still controlled like a NFA weapon that is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
