This set consists of a Model No. 2 deringer and a Third Model derringer within a case marked "Colt's Firearms Co./14, Pall Mall,/London." in gold on the lining inside the lid. It has a "BARRONS PATENT" lock, and also includes a Dixon oiler and two cartridges. The lid is inscribed "RS." The first derringer is the No. 2. It has a rounded blade front sight, standard markings and engraving, London proofs, matching serial number on the barrel and butt, an "S" ahead of the trigger, and matching numbered checkered grips.
Fine with 90% of the original case colors remaining on the hammer, 60% original blue, strong original silver plating under the grips, silver-gray patina on the balance, and some light pitting mainly on the sides of the frame. The grips are also fine and have crisp checkering and mild handling wear. Mechanically excellent. The case is very fine and has minor storage wear and a relined lid.
Features a rounded blade front sight, "-COLT-" on top of the barrel in italics, London proofs, a sloped hammer, "41 CAL" on the left side of the frame, "3333" on the bottom of the frame between the trigger and the barrel screw (possibly related to the set given the first pistol is in the 3300 range), "S" on the left side of the grip frame, and matching serial numbers on the barrel, butt, and grips.
Very fine with 75% plus of the original blue finish, nearly all of the original case colors, 95% plus original nickel plating, and minor overall wear. The grips are fine and have strong original varnish, scattered dents, minor handling wear, and some wear on the raised edges. Mechanically excellent. Definitely an interesting cased set with two models of Colt's classic late 19th century derringers.
