Description:

This 7 x 9 3/4 inch print of bison on the wide open prairie in Northern Montana is marked "106V Buffalo Grazing the Big Open North Montana 1880 ©LA Huffman Miles City." across the bottom in white. The frame measures 13 3/4 x 16 inches. The paper backing of the frame is marked "D.Koster". Laton Alton Huffman (1854-1931) is well known for capturing photos of life in Montana, including ranching and natural wildlife. By 1880 the number of American bison had dwindled from an estimated 60,000,000 in the previous century, to less than 400,000 due to irresponsible over-hunting. Provenance: The John Fox Collection

Rating Definition:

Very fine, the imagery distinct with a minor crease in the upper right corner and a few scattered stains. The frame is very good with some scattered light handling/storage marks.
